Fabric tips

We believe that the gridding method is the most efficient method for stitching,
therefore we recommend that you choose the Easy Count 14 ct aida (if available) in your cross stitch kit and here is why.

14 ct Easy Count gridded aida:

- The fabric matches the 10x10 grid used for pattern
- There is no need to count higher than ten.
- Helps avoid misplaced stitches
- Easy to determine where you are on the pattern
- Faster and quicker stitching because less counting is needed

16 ct aida
Stitching on 16 ct aida will make your work more dense and you will not see any fabric underneath your work. If you don't have good eyesight, maybe go for the 14 ct gridded aida.

18 ct aida
Stitching on 18 ct aida makes your stitches very dense, the finished project will be smaller therefore this fabric is ideal for the extra large designs.

28 ct evenweave
This fabric is for the more experienced stitchers, it is worked "over two threads". The difference is we do not count the squares, but the threads. If you don't have good eyesight, maybe go for the 14 ct gridded aida.

A little information about Madeira threads
Madeira is a German company that is a specialist in the world of industrial embroidery and decorative thread and has been for almost ninety years.
All Madeira embroidery and threads fulfill the Okotex standard 100 - qualities Classic, Polyneon, Burmilana have even been awarded the highest standard, CLASS I, which is the ultimate even for babies. This means that the thread does not contain any harmful or toxic substances which could be dangerous not just for babies, but to anyone. The company also has ISO 9001 Certification!
One of Madeira's biggest aims is to supply the best possible quality. Therefore Madeira concentrates on quality control even before production begins, by only buying high quality greige goods, as well as during and after the production process. Each dye-lot which leaves production is tested on embroidery machines and in laboratories.

All our products are placed in a large strong board backed envelope marked as "Do not bend" for safe transit. Our patterns are not photocopies, each pattern is printed on a Digital Laser printer on Premium 100GSM paper stock. Printer is permanently set to the highest resolution possible - 1200x1200 dpi. The 1st page is printed on a high definition Inkjet photo printer on 250GSM photo glossy paper. The colour range capability of this printer is higher than most photo development shops and is checked for colour consistency and matching of colour threads to give an as close as possible preview of what the chart looks like finished. We care for the environment and ensure any paper we use is FSC certified (ie from sustainable forests)

All of our cross stitch images, on our website and the ones on the pattern covers, show how the pattern will look when finished, not the painting or picture we started from.
